On the occasion of World Industrial Design Day, in several countries of the world various events have been held. Here in the Basque Country, last June 29th, 2015 a talk related to “3D printing in industrial design” was organized. The event initiated by 3dhubs took place in the Aula Ingenio of Deusto’s University Fab Lab in Bilbao.

During the talk the relationship between the design process and the use of the 3D printing technology was analyzed. Advantages such as customizing, efficient production and accuracy are the best allies for industrial designers. Our colleague Juan Imaz, guest speaker, presented the advantages of working in day to day with this technology and how it can be combined with other techniques and materials such as thermoplastic composites to make the most out of the products obtained.
